RAMS management

Trainings for RAMS management

Ramentor offers following training packages for RAMS management: RAMS basics, Design for RAMS, and Continuous RAMS development

RAMS = Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety

RAMS basics

RAMS basics

Basics of RAMS is always recommended as a part of every training entity. Understanding of concepts and principles behind dependability, reliability and risk management improves cooperation amongst the whole organization. The training provides important basic knowledge to support different analysis methods even for more experienced reliability and development engineers.

Recommended for: Great info package for the whole organization

Design for RAMS

Design for RAMS (Greenfield)

During the design phase significant improvements can be made to systems' dependability with small investments. This training introduces the most efficient methods for assessing and improving RAMS through practical examples, which include reliability (Design for Reliability), availability (Design for Availability), maintainability (Design for Maintainability) and life-cycle costs (LCC) related cases.

Recommended for: Design engineers and reliability, maintenance and service engineers taking part in design projects

Continuous RAMS development

Continuous RAMS development (Brownfield)

When managing dependability of systems that are already at the operational state the focus moves from significant design alterations for identifying the improvement potentials of equipment and justifying different investments and improvement actions for them. The training package goes through the best methods for identifying dependability improvement targets and comparing the effects of different improvement actions. The basis for improvement effect calculations is created by utilizing the available history data and expert knowledge as effectively as possible.

Recommended for: Reliability, process and development engineers, maintenance and service work planners

RAMS methods

Trainings for RAMS methods

Ramentor offers following training packages for RAMS methods: Criticality classification, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, and RCM

Criticality

Criticality classification

Training goes through the basics of criticality classification and represents criticality classification solution from standard PSK 6800 and how it can be used with different systems. The training also focuses on the different criticality classification factors and how the volume and definitions of these factors can be modified to best serve organizational goals.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers

FMEA/FMECA

FMEA/FMECA – Failure Mode and Effects (and Criticality) Analysis

This training package represents FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) which is one of the most common root cause analysis methods used in industry. FMEA is a systematic method for identifying different failure modes. FMEA is often replaced with FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis) which takes into account also the criticalities of the failure modes. The training package goes through the basics of FMEA/FMECA, used data fields with their contents and feasibility of the method in different applications.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers

FTA

FTA – Fault Tree Analysis

Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a similar failure mode identification method as FMEA, but it also allows visualizing system cause-consequence relations and calculating overall costs accumulating from system failures. Along with FTA will also be presented Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) that can be combined with FTA for more versatile analysis possibilities. The training package goes through the basics of FTA and RBD, and uses different practical examples to help understanding the utilization of these methods.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers

RCM

RCM – Reliability Centered Maintenance

Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is a comprehensive method for creating service action plans for systems. The training represents the whole RCM process with examples and provides information on how to transform the traditional RCM analysis into so called Streamlined RCM that requires significantly less resources compared to the traditional version.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers, maintenance and service work planners

RAMS tools

Application of RAMS methods and tools

Ramentor offers following training packages for application of RAMS methods and tools:
Spare part storage optimization, ELMAS tool training, and Hands-on project training

Spare parts

Spare part storage optimization

One important part of RAM management is to ensure the availability of spare parts that are critical for the system operation. This training phase addresses the challenges and risks involved in the spare part storage management as a part of overall RAMS management. The training goes through e.g. the variables of storing strategy, balancing between dependability risks and storage costs, and factors affecting spare part availability. The purpose of the training is to provide a clear understanding on the effect that spare part storage has on dependability and to represent methods for utilization of storage history data and managing storage strategy under the set dependability requirements. StockOptim tool is used for spare part storage optimization. Training includes e.g. optimizing storage strategy on single stock items, mass optimization of several stock items and skills involving utilization, censoring and import of history data.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers, storage supervisors and planners, purchasing department responsibles

ELMAS tool

ELMAS tool training

This training goes through the basics and utilization of ELMAS (Event Logic Modeling and Analysis Software). ELMAS is a professional tool created for RAMS management and optimization. The training agenda of ELMAS trainings will always be customized based on the company needs and previous ELMAS experience of the users. It can be held for both beginners or advanced users, and it can go through one tool module more thoroughly (FTA, RBD, FMEA, RCM, criticality classification, dynamic simulation etc.) or the basics concerning several modules. Each ELMAS training will include also going through some practical examples that will be selected based on the needs and industrial sector of the target company.

Recommended for: Reliability and development engineers

Project training

Hands-on project training

The purpose of project training is to learn the basics of RAMS management during a practical pilot project. This allows to focus on some problematic area or system in the organization that can be analyzed thoroughly and improved from RAMS point of view. The pilot project also helps creating an effective operations model for the organizational RAMS development and educating a new reliability engineer to continue the RAMS development in the future.
